Frequently Asked Questions

Please review the frequently asked questions that are displayed below to see if you can quickly find an answer to your question.

  • What's the minimum age requirement to join the UFD?

As an adult fire fighter, 18 is the minimum.  Junior members can be between 16-18 years of age.

  • How do I join?

Fill out our online application or stop at the firehouse. One of our officers will sit with you, explain the requirements and provide you with an application.

  • Is my training and equipment provided?

Yes, all training and gear/equipment required will be provided to you at no cost.

  • Does membership and participation require a great deal of time after training?

The members have duties and business meetings which are held every Monday at the station.  These duties include inspecting our gear and equipment, maintenance of tools and equipment as well as the vehicles.  Drills and other training are generally done on Monday as well.  We ask only that members make a genuine effort to attend, and participation varies by member.  Generally, members are at the fire house 2 hours for these duties.  Participation at bingo games is scheduled on a once-every three weeks basis, and members are asked to participate as they are able.
